The line, path, direction, route, trend ... the act to align.
As a result of a three-week residency at Pestana Citadel Art District, Antonio Bokel leaves us with a solo exhibition, "Align", which will be presented in the Project Room, form October the 3rd until the 31th. "Align" is the result of a search in the field of duality substance / immaterial, one based search on a line transition and more subtle fields in which Antonio Bokel introduced through the installation and drawing, on a constant (impossible) attempt of alignment within the physical space and matter. Here, the mortality existence and human consciousness occurs in the fact that however the line may seem perfect, in one’s eyes will always have the beauty of the human trait of imperfection.
Born in 1978, in Rio de Janeiro and graduated in Graphic Design, was in 2003 that Antonio Bokel held his first solo exhibition in Ken's Art Gallery in Florence, Italy, where he lived and attended the photography and history art courses. His formation continued in Rio de Janeiro, where he attended classes od live modelling painting classic painting and art with the professors, Bandeira de Mello, João Magalhães and Luis Ernesto. Today, after more than 15 years since the beginning of his career, his works were already present in many galleries and urban interventions in Brazil, but also in Amsterdam, Portugal, the Dominican Republic and New York. Antonio Bokel works are also part of the major art collections of Brazil, as Gilberto Chateaubriand’s, the BGA Investments or at Rio de Janeiro Modern Art Museum. Currently, the artist is represented by Mercedes Viegas gallery in Rio de Janeiro.

Add Fuel is Portuguese visual artist and illustrator Diogo Machado (1980). A former graphic designer, his recent artistic practice has been focused on reinterpreting and playing with the language of traditional tile design, and that of the Portuguese tin-glazed ceramic azulejo in particular. Blending traditional and contemporary elements, his original vector-based designs and stencil-based street art reveal an impressive complexity and a masterful attention to detail. Based on a combination of tesselations that create balance from symmetrical repetitions and visual illusion techniques such as trompe-l'œil, his multi-layered patterned compositions create a poetic rhythm that plays with the viewer's perception and the possibilities of interpretation. He has been showcasing his work in both solo and group exhibitions since 2006, as well as participating in some of the world's leading urban art events.

Guilherme’s observations showcase a dispute about true value of space, real estate speculation and our own presence within the big “megacities”. The artist questions and observes the manufacturing of our own faceless acts. Using classical techniques such as watercolours, mixed with less noble and ephemeral materials like packaging tape, Guilherme creates a dialogue with the viewer. The artistpresents an unbalanced hierarchy of urban megacities and the visual urban chaos as a paradox in a coherent manner. His installations, photographs and videos show a notion of territory by placing urban tick marks in natural areas and protected landscapes, creating a visual controversy where the amount per square meter is offered as.
Guilherme Augusto Gafi (1986) was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where he still lives and works. With a degree in Fine Arts from the FAINC, early on the artist became interested in the urban development and dialogue, using visual semantics emerging from the chaos of urban aesthetics and semiotics of the places he grew up. Fed by one of the intrinsic characteristics of the mega city, the urban visual noise, the artist created a whole dialogue based on “non-identities” and ‘graphic codes’ present in everyday life of the urban pedestrian. Those codes are in general invisible and unknowingly consumed by those who are part of the urban alienation dynamics. In places where speed symbolises a supposed development, the time, space and sense of ownership dictate what quality of life is inevitably associated with — speed, traffic, number of likes or real estate. Guilherme Augusto Gafi portrays the anonymous figures of this process — faceless workers without a present identity caught in the urban jungle. Ricardo Passaporte is a portuguese artist, born in 1987 in Lisbon. Passaporte bows to Abstract Expressionism with his obvious focus on process and the intensely expressive gesture that runs throught his work. His paintings appear to be non-objective investigations of the line separating painting from sculpture. We can see the gestures, the movement becomes painting and its subject matter. His work gives value to an urban experience, recreated in parallels signs where the material itself and the movement are the main focus. His processes are only seemingly disoriented, however; the artist clearly cultivates methods by which he provokes coincidence and tempts the unexpected. He is also interested in the immediacy of the materials and sometimes on the use of spray paint. In this way pictures are produced to retain a high degree of uncertainty.
